Blended Learning

‘Blended’ learning is designed primarily for experienced amateurs and for working horticulturists who wanted to have their practical abilities recognised with an RHS qualification, but who cannot attend a regular class close to home.

It combines regular distance learning using weekly idents, online notes, videos and presentations; practice at home; practical tuition blocks which are designed to perfect your skills, correct any poor techniques and also to give you a chance to practise any tasks which are not easy to cover or resource outside a centre; these prepare you for practical assessment sessions (PCAs) with an RHS examiner and an online short-answer examination.

Courses for both RHS Level 2 and 3 Certificates follow a normal academic year: online study begins in September and course work is carried out at home.  Blocks of practical tuition and work with experienced tutors/assessors take place at our centre at Ryton Gardens, Ryton-on-Dunsmore near Coventry. Practical Competence Assessments by RHS examiners take place at Ryton.

Level 3 Practical is being offered as ‘blended learning ‘ for the first time in 2026-7.

Practice at home or work, then come to us for assessments
