The B.E.S.T. in Horticulture Group

B.E.S.T. Bytes Planning a Garden Module 1: Gathering Information

B.E.S.T. Bytes is a series of bite-sized courses. Each course is focused on a single topic, which allows you to gain an understanding of that subject before moving on. Some of the B.E.S.T. Bytes have related content and by working through a group you can build up a wider knowledge of more complex subjects over time.

B.E.S.T. Bytes enable you to participate in learning anywhere, using a range of devices.

They are particularly suitable if you are a working adult with limited free time, interested in developing skills and knowledge in horticulture to advance your career – or as a hobby.

This first module of a short series on how to plan a garden takes you through the initial stage: assessing the site and deciding on its possibilities, and balancing this with your 'wish list' of what you would like from a garden.

This is 'byte sized' learning; this module takes you through three key points in the process of planning a garden:

  • Assessing the site and taking note of all the existing features in the garden
  • Producing a ‘desire list’ of what you want to include in your new garden layout
  • Thinking about practical and safety issues for the future garden, and for the process of building it.

This course is delivered on-line through our Moodle platform. When you have completed this module you can take a short online multiple choice test, to confirm your understanding of the topics covered. To be successful you have to achieve 80%, and you are permitted to take the test a number of times.

If you purchase this course you will have access to it for 24 months from the date of purchase.

You will be able to download and print out a certificate of completion from B.E.S.T. in Horticulture Education Limited.

The cost is £ 25.00, which includes registration and self-certification. You will study this module at home.

You can purchase the course online from our website.

You will then be automatically enrolled and you can start studying the modules straight away.

This is a 'byte sized' module of study covering a single topic, how to achieve success in planting a range of plants.

You can go on to do another of our B.E.S.T. Bytes courses, or consider enrolling on one of our longer programs of study.
